Missing Person Case September 2021

Bramel, approximately 2007

Date reported missing : 04/30/2007

Missing location (approx) :
Portland, Oregon
Missing classification : Endangered Missing
Gender : Female
Ethnicity :

DOB : 01/09/1981 (40)
Age at the time of disappearance: 26 years old
Height / Weight : 5'7, 160 pounds
Medical conditions : Bramel's behavior was erratic in the months prior to her disappearance; she began drinking heavily, accumulating a lot of credit card debt and staying up all night talking about grandiose plans she had. Her sister and boyfriend believe she may have suffered from undiagnosed bipolar disorder. She was not, apparently, a danger to others, but her boyfriend believes she was a danger to herself.
Distinguishing characteristics, birthmarks, tattoos : Caucasian female. Brown hair, hazel eyes. Bramel has a red mark on her nose and forehead. She has the following tattoos: a Celtic knot on her lower back, a black line on both legs, a green tree on her back, the word "Lucky" on her left leg and the word "Girl" on her right leg. Her nickname is Beck.

Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Bramel was last seen at her mother's residence in Portland, Oregon on April 30, 2007. She may have been sighted in the Eugene/Springfield area of Oregon in early May, but that hasn't been confirmed.
In early May, the vehicle she'd borrowed from a friend was found five miles up an isolated logging road road between Deerhorn and Goodpasture Roads, in a rural area east of Springfield. The vehicle had a flat tire and the gas tank was empty, and the contents of Bramel's wallet were laid out on the dashboard, including the cigarette case she cherished. There was no sign of Bramel at the scene. She had previously visited the area with her boyfriend, but she has no relatives living there and authorities don't know why she would go there again.
Authorities believe Bramel probably died somewhere in the same area where her car was found. Her boyfriend thinks she may have deliberately chosen to hide in the forest and die. Her case remains unsolved.

September 2021 updates and sources

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 25% of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. Several organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and imAge at the time of disappearance: s of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.
