Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Blackburn was last seen while on vacation with his family in Kihei, Hawaii on June 11, 2013. He and his son were snorkeling off the Molokini Crater. His son saw him go under the water at 5:30 p.m., and he never resurfaced. He was not wearing a life jacket. An extensive search by the Coast Guard turned up no sign of him, but he is presumed drowned.
Blackburn lived in Illinois with his wife and two children at the time of his disappearance. He has a B.A. in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A. from Bradley University. He worked for Caterpillar Inc. and held a number of leadership positions within the company, including posts in Mexico and the U.K.

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known.
